This project involved building a complete marketing system from the ground up for a multi-location hospitality business generating multi-million dollar annual revenue.
At the time, there was no dedicated marketing function in place only ad hoc activity across social media. The objective was to establish a structured, scalable system that could support consistent visibility, customer engagement, and long-term growth.

The Starting Point
When I joined, marketing was largely unstructured:
- No marketing strategy or defined direction
- Social media was limited to occasional posting without a system
- Email marketing had never been implemented
- Advertising was limited to basic boosted posts with no clear targeting
- Google presence was underutilised
- Customer engagement was reactive rather than managed
- No integration between platforms or channels
In short, marketing existed but there was no system behind it.
The Approach
A Customer Growth System was built from the ground up, connecting all marketing channels into a single, structured framework.
1. Building the Foundation
The first priority was to establish structure and consistency:
- Implemented a content scheduling system to ensure consistent output
- Increased posting frequency from approximately 2 posts per week to 20+ posts per week, supported by a clear content strategy
- Introduced structured daily Stories to maintain ongoing engagement
- Standardised messaging across platforms
This created consistency and laid the groundwork for scalable growth.
2. Expanding Visibility & Acquisition
Once the foundation was in place, focus shifted to visibility and reach:
- Transitioned from basic boosted posts to structured advertising campaigns
- Introduced Meta and Google Ads with defined targeting and objectives
- Optimised Google Business Profile to improve local search visibility
- Built a consistent presence across multiple platforms
This improved how the business was discovered across both social and search.
3. Building Retention & Customer Engagement
To move beyond one-time visits, retention systems were introduced:
- Developed and launched a monthly email marketing system
- Segmented customer lists to improve relevance and targeting
- Created ongoing communication strategies to stay top of mind
- Managed and responded to customer feedback across platforms
This shifted marketing from reactive to proactive engagement.
4. Integrating Systems & Automation
To create a more connected experience:
- Integrated chatbot functionality into the website
- Connected social media channels to chatbot workflows
- Streamlined customer enquiries and response handling
- Ensured all channels worked together as part of a single system
This improved both customer experience and operational efficiency.
5. Scaling Through Content & Influencer Strategy
To further expand reach and brand presence:
- Implemented influencer collaborations aligned with brand positioning
- Developed content frameworks that could be scaled across locations
- Maintained high-volume output with consistent quality and direction
This supported ongoing growth without losing structure.
The Outcome
Over a 3-year period, the implementation of a structured marketing system contributed to:
- Expansion from a single operation to multiple additional venues
- Significantly increased content output with strategic direction
- Stronger and more consistent brand visibility across platforms
- Improved engagement and customer interaction
- A fully integrated marketing system across content, advertising, search, and communication
Most importantly, marketing shifted from disconnected activities to a scalable system capable of supporting business growth over time.
Key Takeaway
Building a structured marketing system, even from zero, creates the clarity, consistency, and scalability required to support long-term business growth.
